Minimally Invasive + Robotic Surgery

Cutting edge. Innovative. Exceptional.

Minimally Invasive Surgery

At South Florida Premier Surgery, we aim to enhance our patients’ well-being by providing advanced, high-tech surgical solutions and recovery care in a convenient, compassionate surgical environment.

Our specially trained surgeons employ minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery techniques — including using specially designed instruments to perform sophisticated surgery through small incisions in the body or a natural orifice —optimizing a quicker recovery than traditional surgery.

Benefits

    • Decreased blood loss

    • Decreased tissue and abdominal wall trauma

    • Decreased rate of transfusions

    • Reduced rate of infection

    • Reduced need for pain medication

    • Shorter length of hospital stay

    • Shorter recovery time

    • A quicker return to work and normal activities

    • Increased ability for surgeons to work in difficult to reach corners of the abdomen

Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopy is a common form of minimally invasive surgery that uses 3-4 small incisions — rather than a single large incision used in open surgery — to operate. Surgeons insert a small camera, or laparoscope, and thin surgical instruments through these tiny incisions to complete the procedure, resulting in significantly shorter downtime than open surgery.

Robotic Surgery

Robotic surgery is a form of laparoscopic surgery that allows the surgeon to operate using a bedside console, the DaVinci surgical robot. Also known as robot-assisted surgery, surgeons can perform complex surgeries with more precision than conventional techniques.

Only specially trained, certified surgeons, like those at South Florida Premier Surgery, use robotic technology, including tiny surgical tools and a computer console. Throughout the year, our surgeons participate in structured didactic and practical courses in all aspects of minimally invasive surgery, providing instruction to surgeons in training, as well as those already in practice.
